Childish Dreams

Rose walks down the lane, through the thick fog that sweeps around her face. Trees to her left and right; some tall, some small, some thick, some thin. No-one walks with her. Her purpose of walking this lane is simple; to find him.

She sees him at the end of the lane, his back turned towards her. She can tell it is him, wearing his pinstriped suit as always.

He lifts the fog from around her with one elegant sweep. A voice, not his, utters six words – just six. He used to say that six words could bring down the British government. These six words would change Rose's life forever.

The Doctor kisses Rose deeply on the lips. They break apart. He grasps her hand and tells her to run. They run down the lane; no fog clouding Rose's vision this time. She can see clearly where she's headed – to a better life. The trees drop their leaves onto them both, cheering them along.

They reach the TARDIS, open the door. The Doctor carries Rose inside. They set the coordinates for some far off distant land. The TARDIS whisks them off.

The happiest day of their lives.

If only it were possible…
