Everyone was getting suited up for the big fight against Tony and whatever crew he had made. Steve was anxious and worried, but he tried to not let it show. They all took turns changing in the van to respect each others privacy, yet Bucky had been in the van for 40 minutes and no one was moving inside anymore. Steve was the only one left who had to change.
"You should go check on him," Sam said softly enough for Bucky to not be able to hear, "he's definitely ready by now, but he might not be emotionally."
"Roger that," Steve said as he took a deep breath and slowly slid open the van door.
He climbed into the van and saw Bucky sitting there quietly not moving a muscle. His eyes fixed on his metal arm. Steve slowly shut the van door and walked over to Bucky and sat next to him.
"Buck, are yo-" Steve started only to be cut off by the Soldier.
"How can you love me like this?" he asked softly, but with strain in his voice, "how can you still love me after all the pain I put you through?"
"James Buchanan Barnes," Steve whispered pulling Bucky into a side hug, "the bravest man I know, the man I've always loved. You are so strong, you know that. Everything they did to you wasn't your fault. You may not be the same man that was back in Brooklyn to SHEILD, but to me, you'll always be the man who saved me in the school yard."
Bucky smiled at his reaction, quickly turning away, "I don't know if I'm worth all this."
Bucky turned his head back to face Steve. He just wanted to cry, but he couldn't. Not infront of Steve. Without hesitation he pulled Steve's face towards his and pushed his lips against him. After a few seconds he pulled away, the look of shock frozen on the captains face.
Steve ran his hand through Bucky's long brown hair, "you have no clue how long I've wanted you to do that."
Before Bucky could respond there was a band on the van door, "OI LOVEBIRDS HURRY UP, SCOTT NEEDS TO PEE."
"SHUT UP SAM!" Steve yelled back, "I should get changed Buck."
"If you must," he replied softly cupping Steve's face.
"I love you Buck."
"I love you Stevie."
