Watching Over Me
I lay here in the snow,
Trying not to think about the pain
Of my broken limbs.
The snow around me
Turns red
From my blood.
"How many more times?"
I had asked myself.
"How many more times would they do it?"
It had been a stupid question;
Of course they would never stop.
I hate them.
I have a feeling that if someone
Doesn't help me soon
I will die.
I'll miss you, James
And Remus.
My best friends.
Never forget me.
Oh, it's so cold.
I hear the soft crunching
Of footsteps in the snow.
I'm not far from home.
It's probably my mother
Coming to finish me off.
Good.
I will let her.
It will make everything much easier.
Crunch Crunch
"Sirius?" I hear.
It's not a cold voice.
It's gentle and kind.
I know that voice.
I just can't tell who it is.
I open my eyes
And see two pairs
Of warm brown ones
Looking down into mine.
Full of shock and concern.
I hear their anxious voices,
But I can't understand;
I'm fading into darkness.
I wake up later.
I'm in James's bed.
I shift my eyes and find
James and Remus.
Sitting next to it.
I then realize:
They're not only my best friends.
They're my guardian angels.
Watching over me.
