Dawn's Visit
Chapter 1.
Dawn's Return
I stared at my house that I'd once shared with mom, dad, and Mary Ann.
"Dawn, is that you!" my mom looked out the door to find me carrying about a million pounds of suit cases and a purse. I dropped all of my things and ran for her.
"Oh, I've missed you so much!" she exclaimed giving me a huge hug.
"Yeah, you too!" I told her, picking my things back up. "Where's dad and Mary Ann?" was the first thing that popped out of my mouth as we entered the house that I'd learned to love.
"Your father is at work, and Mary Ann is out with Logan, but she should be home any minute. So, how was your flight? It seems like you got here late," she commented.
"It was delayed, and then when we got back the gate wasn't ready, and then once I was finally off the plane, I had to find a cab," I explained. "And know, I'm starving, and exhausted."
"Oh, here comes Mary Ann, she'll be glad to see you," mom told me, nodding toward Mary Ann who was slamming the car door behind her. As soon as she saw me she ran up to me and hugged me.
"I didn't know you were coming," was the first thing she said after letting go of her breath-taking grip on me.
"Mom," I looked accusingly at my loving mother. She laughed, "I thought it would be a pleasant surprise if she didn't know,"
"It is!" Mary Ann smiled.
"Well, I was just about to cook some spaghetti, so why don't you girls go upstairs and get caught up with each other," I was glad that mom let us have our privacy.
"So, what's been going on here?" I wondered. I wanted to know everything and anything. "Is the club still together?" I asked.
"There's a new member, her name is Cassie," Mary Ann started.
"O.K, I'll meet her tomorrow, right?" I asked excitedly.
"Of course. Everyone will be so happy to see you!" Mary Ann laughed.
"I'm tired," I commented lazily. I fell onto my bed, and forgetting that mom was making food for my grumbling stomach, I fell fast asleep.
