This is a short scene, that came up to me between (ugh) Black Market and Scar. I rewatched those episodes in the same day and Kara looked so small and fragile and breakable in Scar that my brain just imediately jumped back to seeing tiny breakable Gianne a couple minutes earlier.

XXX

The first time he met Kara he was aroused, intimidated, wary and very very very drunk. He never actually felt something (or, maybe, he never remembered feeling something -- kinda had to do with all the drinking, but he would never admit that).

He only fell in love with her when he saw her in a flight suit.

He was going to check up on Zak before his flight back to Caprica. He asked an red haired Ensign about him when something jumped from his blind side, punching him in the arm.

"Apollo!"

There. That moment, when he turned and realized that she was there, smiling, completely ignoring all the wrongness of their last encounter.

She hugged him.

He didn't know what to do with his hands so he went ahead and fell totally completely and unavoidably in love with her.

And it was so totally frakked up, too, he realized, not only because she was his brother's girlfriend, but because he had it pretty clear in his mind that the only reason he was falling so hard was because she looked so much like his own girlfriend.

In the sun, her blond hair was almost white. She smiled brightly, perfectly. She had honest big glimmering eyes. She was petite, She was everything that made him fall for Gianne in the first place, but in a flight suit, with grease on her cheek and smelling like jetfuel.

It was like Gianne had come out of all her propperness, all her righteouness and climbed up a cockpit with him. It was like Gianne, but a Gianne he could be himself with.

It was intoxicating.

It was a new personal best for Lee Adama. In one skipped beat his traitorous heart managed to get him betraying his girlfriend (how could he fall for another woman?), his brother (how could he fall for his brother's girl?), his brother's girlfriend (how could he fall for her because she looked like his girlfriend?), himself (how could he? how could he? how could he?).

His daddy would be so proud.
