Day 1: No Powers
He's not here…The dark-haired girl simply took another sip from her glass of punch in sheer frustration trying to clear her head. Why did she even come? There was no point…she could've just stayed home cuddled up in her blankets with her cat, Tikki. It wasn't like she expected him to come any way!
Honestly, everyone had someone to share their heart with these days: there was her best friend, Alya and her boyfriend, Nino, who were hitting the dance floor snuggling in each other's arms; there was the softies, Ivan and Mylene who were probably in a corner snogging; hell, there was even Juleka and Rose who were perched on a balcony gazing at the stars together. And there was herself who had spent hours and hours sewing the flowery pink ballgown she was wearing hoping that this would be her night…where she'd have a chance to finally reach to him in a different and new light.
But here she was alone and upset…leaning down the railing of the terrace…of course, she couldn't blame him: it was her own stupidity of thinking that things would work out right when they never did. She should've known that she had zero percent chance already with…Adrien Agreste!
The pounding of her head increased as she could feel her heart shattering into pieces. Marinette decided she had enough and chose to call it a night. As she turned around, she gauchely stepped on the silky fabric of her ballgown; she gasped in horror as she felt her body falling backwards skidding off the railing of the terrace meaning she could-
A force grabbed her hand and pushed her upwards. Her breath hitched as she gazed into a pair of emerald eyes.
He stood with golden ruffled hair and gorgeous green eyes; his face shielded by a black mask. The raven suit he wore was elegant and the green tie (with cat faces?) complemented his eyes.
Her body brushed upon his; left hand upon his chest and faces close enough to hear and smell his minty breath. One hand in her right and the other entwined around her waist; he deeply stared into her eyes with deep concern.
"Are you okay, Princess?" the stranger asked brows raised.
His question broke her from the trance she was in as she released from his grasp and slid to stand beside him.
"I'm fine, thank you for saving me!" Marinette responded trying to suppress a faint smile.
"Well, that's what this knight can do fur you, princess." He said playfully as he bowed down to kiss the back of her palm.
"Seriously, Cat puns?"
"What can I say, they're pawsome."
She rolled my eyes in agitation…great, so now I was stuck with this guy who loved cocky puns.
"So, tell me, little lady, why are you out here alone on this beautiful night?"
"Firstly, the name's Marinette and secondly, it's my turn to ask questions?" I said crossing my arms.
"Meowch! Marinette, you sure know how to deal with strangers but how could you think a poor cat like me is after your jewellery after I just saved your life, I'm offended."
Marinette giggled light-heartedly and bubbled sassily,
"Now, now, kitty, don't divert the conversation topic…who are you?"
"Me…why…I'm- "A mischievous smirk spread across his lips, "Cat Noir."
She scoffed at his response and face-palmed.
"What are you? A superhero? With that black mask and heroic entrance"
"Indeed, pur-incess, I'm your superhero."
"Of course, you are, of course…" Marinette retorted rolling hr eyes at that stupid nickname.
"Well, since this cat saved your life, you must definitely owe him something."
"Owe you something? What do you want? Jewellery?" she said teasingly.
"Oh, something far more valuable then jewellery, indeed." Cat Noir beamed, a wide smile spreading on his face as he bowed down low and extended his hand forward, "so, princess, would you care to have this dance with me?"
She reciprocated his bright smile and placed her hand in his.
"I'd love too, kitty."
The night went by with dance, banter and puns. They couldn't care less about all the events taking place in the ballroom down below…they were just too…involved with each other.
