His crimson eyes widen in horror as the blood stained blond hair of Naruto blocked his view of their enemy's attack.
It seemed to him like it had lasted hours, but in a mere instant everything changed.
Whirl winds of snow flew down around them biting at their already redden cheeks with harsh blows of frost.
The enemy ninja then reseeded leaving just the two of them behind.
Tears stung at the edges of his eyes as he slowly picked up Naruto and gently sat down under a withered tree.
Sasuke then took him fully into his arms cradling him to his chest protectively.
"Shhh Naru-koi, e-everything wi-will be fine." Murmured the raven haired boy as he combed his pale fingers through the smaller boy's sun kissed locks.
Naruto looked up into Sasuke's eyes, his sapphire orbs growing glazed and losing their sparkle as the seconds were savagely robbed from them.
"Sasu-koi….." Naruto smiled weakly as blood dribbled out of the corner of his mouth.
"Iie Naruto, don't you fucking leave me!" Sasuke yelled as he tore his sleeve and started to bind the gaping hole that littered his partner's stomach.
In the back of his mind Sasuke knew it was futile, they were days away from any village and naruto wouldn't last much longer on his own; but he wouldn't dare admit it to himself.
Tears began to steadily make it's way down his cheeks.
I can't live without him..
"No…tears…sasuke..no tears…." He rasped coughing up blood.
"Baka dobe…why…?" Sasuke choked out.
He only laughed a strained raspy cough, "Be…ca..use…Sas..uke..teme…aish..iter..u…"
Naruto's eyes grew very still darkening to a navy color, his chest stopped rising.
"N..Naruto..?" Whispered Sasuke desprately.
"Naruto!" He shook him repeatedly, blond tresses fell into the prone form's face as his head lulled back and forth with the shaking.
"Iie! Iie!!!!!! Kami…iie….Naruto…" Sasuke sobbed, as heated pain wrenched through his chest like nails.
He hesitantly brought up two fingers to Naruto's eyes and closed his lover's eyelids making the illusion that the blond kitsune was only sleeping.
Closing his eyes he leans down and kissed the cold lips of Naruto.
"Aishiteru…Naru-koi.."
The snow fell in heavy blankets upon their huddled bodies.
Sasuke closed his eyes.
In death we will reunite
Your shine will show me the way
Carry our hearts anew
So I will always be next to you
