You Found Me

Austin was sitting outside on his front porch dwelling on the past, feeling bad about how he handled the situation with Sam all those years ago. It was ten years later, and he was married to that very girl. I know it's all in the past. Why am I still feeling guilty about it? He thought to himself.

"Austin? What are you doing out here so late? Is something bothering you? Sam approaching him from behind. It's 11:30 at night. What could be on his mind? She thought to herself.

"No, I'm okay. I've just been thinking about it again."

"Oh, Austin, I really wish you'd let it go. It was such a long time ago."

"I know. But, sometimes I just can't help it. I mean, what if I didn't come to my senses and go after you, though?" He buried his head in hands and running his hands through his hair. I really wish this would just go away!

"But you did come after me. That's the bottom line."

"Yeah, it was such a difficult time in my life until I was able to find myself."

"Well, that's not the only thing you found, you know." She said with a grin.

"What do you mean?" Looking back at her.

"You found me as well, silly." Letting out a small giggle leaning on his shoulder. "I understand certain things are hard to let go. However, you need to let the past be the past and look at what you have right in front you. Me for instance. And in my case I have you in front of me." Austin couldn't help but smile at her, after all she knew how to make him feel better no matter how down he was. "Look at it this way, if that didn't happen we wouldn't be here, today. Things happen for a reason whether there bad or good."

"When did you become so smart?" He asked while sharing a smile with her.

"I was born with the natural ability to turn your frown upside down." Austin fell over laughing from her nerdy response.

"Please tell me you didn't just say that." Leaning in to give her a quick kiss.

"What? I was just trying to charm you up. Come on, let's go inside and get some rest, mister." He got up from the steps on the porch holding Sam's hand along with her advice as well. Giving each other a hug before going inside. I'm the luckiest guy in the world! From that day forward, he never thought about what he did, again.
