Pain, Fury, Guilt, Love
All of these emotions and more had flowed through Richard Castle that tragic day exactly one year ago. They were engulfing him once more in a whirlwind of feelings. Tears cascaded down his cheeks as he finished yet another bottle of scotch, unsuccessfully trying to dull the pain and heartache. That day still kept replaying in his mind, torturing and tormenting him until he was physically cowering in a corner.
Silence, White walls, Tears
Footsteps
Rick glanced up from studying the stark white tiles on the floor to a see a doctor standing in front of them. He could barely focus on the words he was saying, but once they registered in his mind he turned and fled down the hospital corridor unable to face the horrifying truth.
After running for what seemed like hours but was only minutes, he found himself at her apartment building. The building she would never see again. The truth was finally sinking in. She wasn't coming back, ever.
It was his fault she was gone. He had set these events in motion that very first day he laid eyes on Johanna Beckett's case file and because of this he would never again see her beautiful face, hear her extraordinary laugh, or feel her soft skin under his fingers.
More tears poured down his face and silent sobs racked his crumpled body. His world had shattered and the only one who could piece it back together was gone forever. The women he loved so much was gone and he didn't even know if she knew how much he loved her. He had waited too long and now it was too late.
He used to think they had all the time in the world and that they would always be there for each other.
What happened to always?
