Nico woke from the wired dream he had been having for two weeks now. He was running, in a forest. When suddenly out of no were a red hooded cardinal came from a bush and hugged him close. He felt no fear. He felt safe in this cardinal's wings. He would always bury himself in to the cardinal's big gray chest when he noticed he was crying, and it was snowing to. He was in a snowy forest, crying in to a fat red hooded cardinal? That wasn't right, being he was with Tony a red-factor canary. Then he always woke up looking at his tear soaked pillow. Tony had always woke before him so he figured that today would be the day he'd run from this house to get rid of this nightmare. (No, dream) he thought to himself. He walked down to the kitchen and saw Tony sleeping soundly on the couch. Nico stalked to the kitchen to get some food for the trip. He walked to the door grabbing his bottle cap. He remembered when he got that cap.
(Flashback)Nico sat against a log crying his heart out, he had just told everyone that he was gay and they all had made fun of him since. Suddenly a cardinal chick walked up to him. The cardinal chick was carrying something shiny in his wing. It was round and caught the fading sunlight perfectly. "Here…" he said handing the shiny thing to Nico and sitting beside him. Nico took it reluctantly looking at it to figure out what it was. It was a bottle cap with a green background and blue wiggly lines on it. It was bright silver around the edges. It was dull were it should have been sharper then heck from, what he could tell, years of use or exposure to the elements, either one. " It's a hat…for you," the cardinal said. Nico looked at the bird in surprise. "Why?" asked Nico. The bird took a pause but spoke again soon. " You looked sad… and I needed to get rid of it any way" the bird finished. "Thank you" Nico said bowing his head a little and blinking once. The cardinal smiled. " Your welcome… so what's your name?" asked the bird. "I'm Nico" Nico replied quickly. The bird smiled and said " Pedro." Nico wanted to ask him what type of bird he was since his feathers were still black from being a hatchling, but that was ok cause Nico was still light yellow, the color of yellow canary hatchlings. Nico got up thanking Pedro again for the hat and left cause his mom was calling.
(End of flashback)Nico opened the door with a loud " creek!" something stirred behind him, something about his size but a little bigger. It stood from the couch, it was a little scary when it was mad. It was Tony…
