Burn It All Away

His fascination with fire began the night it stole his mother. It took her along with any hope he had for a future; too long ago to remember those dreams now.
His father ordered him to face his fears, instead he embraced them. Sometimes, affection or poor circumstance meant he allowed Sammy the honor of lighting the salt and gasoline-soaked bones, but it was always his responsibility. It was the best part of every hunt.
As he watched the tulpa's house burn, with a beer in one hand and his brother by his side, he honestly couldn't remember being happier.
