This is just a really, really short one shot. My friends and i were bored in our French lesson and decided to give each other ideas for fanfictions. My characters are: Annie Cresta (Hunger Games) and Percy Jackson (Percy Jackson series). My subject is: Darkness.
So this is what i came up with :) Enjoy.
Darkness. That's all Annie had seen for a long time. A darkness so large, so endless, no matter how much she clawed at her subconscious mind she could not escape it. It always found a way to drag her back down, down into the dark.
It had become second nature to Annie, to wait and hope that the darkness would pull away and the light would creep in. She had always found her light in Finnick Odair. He was the one who fought the darkness away; he was the one who battled the monsters that plagued her mind. But Finnick could no longer be Annie's knight in shining armour, for the darkness had taken him, too.
Annie had started to count the times she had visited Finnick. She would sit by the Cliffside hoping that the wind would carry her words out to him, and in return he would whisper back on the breeze. Annie had lost count of how many times she had thought she had heard his voice…
Soon enough the darkness had begun to creep back in. It would begin in her dreams, then travel to her conscious mind… Annie didn't know what was real anymore.
So there she sat, alone. The darkness creeping into her periphery, the screams of children echoing far off in her ears and the vibration of bombs rumbling through her fingers. Soon she would be in complete darkness.
But something wrenched her from the darkness. For a moment the sound of the knock made her think the impossible. She started for the door, the person on the other side not who she wanted it to be. She wrenched the door open, for a moment daring to believe.
"Hey, Annie." Katniss said, holding a fishing rod over her shoulder. "Do you want to come fishing?"
The darkness began to creep back… Finnick used to fish… She managed a nod and pulled the door closed behind her.
"I hope you don't mind," Katniss said, motioning towards the end of the path. "I brought a friend along."
Annie stared at the person at the end of the pathway, the darkness still clouding her mind. He reminded her of someone, the way he was dressed so casually in swim trunks, a trident hung over his shoulder. They reached the end of the pathway and the boy smiled at her kindly.
"Annie, this is Percy Jackson."
Annie couldn't explain it, but suddenly the darkness didn't seem as overwhelming anymore.
