The time has come.
Many a year has passed since I last set foot on this field of battle, many faces have come and gone with time and even now there are formidable foes I have yet to see, yet to fight. Times were simpler back then, the warriors that surrounded me were a strange but competent group. Some wielded blades, some their bare hands, others brought incredible skills and weapons from a time far ahead of my own. Even with such odds stacked against me I never wavered, never surrendered. There was simply the fight.
Times have changed, gone are the days of red turtle shells and humanoid husks in boxes. Nowadays the shells explode and the boxes explode even more, still I cannot stray from the path fate has given me. The great decider, the white hand that lays claim to these lands that vary so much is still here to test us, along with its frenzied brother it challenges us to a battle that pushes us to our very limits. The battles are long and difficult, but so long as I don't give up, I shall not fall.
I remember the days when us sword wielders were few, no more than four of us if memory serves. Now however the blades dance and sing across the battlefield, with so many swords to cross there must be a fighter of equal or greater strength. Many of the fighters of old have also gained new skills, be they large and showy or smaller, compact power, they all have magnificent strength. They are not the only ones to have learned something new, with the skills I have obtained through my training I shall show the world I can still keep up with the best.
I've trained hard, waiting for my chance, hoping they would call my name once more. For many years I have held onto that hope, honing my skills and pushing myself to be the best I can be. Finally the moment has arrived and I could not be more ready to prove myself. With the flash of my sword and the strength of the arms that hold it high, I shall prevail in this legendary battlefield. My hand grips the hilt tightly as I look forward and step through the light, to my destiny.
"For those I must protect. I cannot lose!"
