I Can't Believe It's Not Snowblind!

His enemy kept to the trees, and while his sharp eyes scanned carefully for danger, the blinding white battled for his visual attention. Breathing kept shallow enough to avoid leaving puffs of breath visible in the sunlight; he thought he saw a flicker of movement as snow flickered down from a nearby tree branch, glittering in the sun.

One step, then another – treading gently on the snowdrift's surface so as to stay quiet, he approached with the stealth trained vigorously into his instinct.

That is, until a weight from above dumped heavily on his head and turned his world white. Sputtering to get the snow out of his mouth, he heard a fierce cry and a small prick of ki. Immediately he brought up his sword to block. Not fast enough – a moment later, and he found himself rubbing sore ribs from a blunt-bladed blow to his side.

"Baka deshi, don't ever drop your guard on what's above you!" the deep voice reprimanded sharply. "If I had been a real threat, you wouldn't be in one piece right now."

Kenshin ducked his snow-dusted head sheepishly, muttering an apology, promising he would do better next time.

The sun slowly pulled its blinding rays behind the mountain peak; Hiko decided that his pupil – inept as he could be – had enough for the day. Gruffly turning, he scowled. "At least you blocked the first blow this time. Tomorrow I'd better not land anything."

Kenshin smiled, took the compliment as it was.

"Hai, Shishou."

So to make this clear, Nekotsuki came up with the primary plot idea (i.e. a rather amusing mental image) and Baka wrote it out with more ideas by Nekotsuki. This is how a drabble becomes co-authored. XD (Mostly 'cuz Baka feels too guilty taking credit for it, haha… -swtz-)

And yes, posting a drabble under this pen name could be dangerous. But I was dared by Nekotsuki, soooo... here it is!

And yes, it's a little more serious than the title might entail. So sue us. XD Let's just say I'm surprised that it's this serious after a really silly conversation. -sings "Hiko the Snowman" for good measure- XD
