Il Pleut

"I hate rain."

Yuki Sohma made a small face, covering it up by leaning closer to the science book he was reading. Ignoring Kyo, he tried to focus on the text on the page, hoping that Tohru and Shigure didn't bother to respond to his hot-headed cousin's comment. 'The Calvin Cycle, or Dark Cycle is the second stage of photosynthesis. After Sunlight and water are converted by the Light-dependent cycle, the left over carbon dioxide is--'

"Why do you hate the rain, Kyo-kun?"

Yuki groaned inwardly, wanting to just leave the room but at the same time unwilling to offend Tohru by leaving just as she posed a question.

"Hm? What?"

Yuki raised an eyebrow; judging from his tone of voice, Kyo hadn't realized that he had spoken aloud. Heh, what an idiot...

Tohru smiled brilliantly at Kyo, repeating herself cheerfully, "I asked you why you don't like the rain."

"Oh. It's just that there's nothing to do when it rains. Makes me feel lazy."

Shigure looked up from his book and even with his back turned, Yuki could just hear the mischevious grin, "But Kyo-kun, you're lazy all the time anyway. Even when it's sunny out, you just sit around all day."

Kyo tensed, and Yuki knew his defenses were up. "That's not true, you stupid dog!"

Yuki winced, Kyo really needed to learn some tact...

Shigure's reply sounded thoughtful, "Well, I suppose your right. I mean, you are always fixing the things you break when Yuki-kun sends you flying..."

Shigure, did you just have to drag me into this?!

Kyo growled low in his throat, sounding just like the cat he was. Sensing the impending fight and more broken furniture, Tohru quickly interjected, "Shigure-san! You shouldn't be so mean to Kyo-kun! And as for the rain, I like it."

Good job, Tohru. Another beating for Kyo smoothly avoided.

"You like it?" Kyo sounded incredulous, "How could you like having tons of water falling on you from the sky?"

Well, he is a cat...

"Well for one thing, afterwards there are always rainbows. And if you want, you can run outside and dance in the rain. Don't you think that would be fun, Kyo-kun? Dancing in the--"

Kyo didn't give her the chance to finish, biting back a yawn as he moved slowly out of the room.

The rain was coming down harder now, pounding on the roof until it sounded like the beating of a drum. Yuki was finding it very difficult to concentrate. 'The double helix of DNA is comprised of Sugar, Oxygen, and Phosphates. When a strand of DNA is copied, it becomes a cat.(1)' What? Yuki blinked at the page. It becomes what? '...it becomes RNA.' He sighed, and rubbed his eyes wearily. He'd been reading so long he was going dyslexic. Time to pack it up. Picking up his book and notes, Yuki bid Shigure and Tohru goodnight and headed upstairs. Where did Kyo get to anyway? He thought absently. Suddenly, at the top of the stairs he tripped, narrowly avoiding kicking a sleeping Kyo in the face. What? What the hell is Kyo doing sleeping curled up at the top of the stairs? He's right in the way... It looks like he was on his way to his room, and didn't make it all the way... Yuki stared at the sleeping red-head for a second, hearing nothing but the rain and Kyo's light breathing. Ah! I get it! The rain put him to sleep! That is so stupid, it's hilarious. Yuki chuckled and debated with himself for a second. Nodding, he came to a conclusion and picked up his suprisingly light cousin. Walking down the hall, he nudged Kyo's bedroom door open, sidestepped a large box filled with... books? And carefully deposited him on the futon. Instantly, Kyo curled up into a ball and carried on sleeping. Yuki laughed a little and left.

1. Oh come on, tell me that's not funny. Sadly enough, it cracked me right up... XP
