Ariel was worried.

Recently, Grimsby had been talking with Eric and other royal advisors of the kingdom of Denmark. Though there had not been one "King" ever since Eric's father, the royals of Denmark decided that there would be an upcoming coronation at some point. Eric, being the technical heir to the throne, was to be King, making Ariel the Queen.

Queen.

The word almost frightened the princess. She hardly ever heard the word, and when she did, it was almost always in reference to her mother, Queen Athena. Though Atlantica and Denmark were two completely different kingdoms, Ariel almost didn't want to become a Queen, because of her mother. She felt she could never live up to her mother and have the great leadership she possessed. Also, it was too much of a sad memory for her; she didn't want to hold the same position that her mother did.

Ariel also wasn't sure she was ready to be a Queen, even though she had been a princess for almost 13 years. She was afraid of being overwhelmed, of being unsure of what to do, and worst of all, of being too busy to spend much time with her children or family in Atlantica. She didn't want to have to sacrifice that just for a political position.

Besides, could she even rule a whole country? She'd only been a human for 13 years.. Did an entire country want someone who grew up as a mermaid to rule them? Ariel remembered that people hadn't accepted her at first when she had become the princess… She could only imagine how people would feel if she became Queen.

But if Eric was to become King, then Ariel would stand by him, no matter what. It would be a big responsibility, but she knew that together, they could handle it. She knew he would help her, and she hoped that, when and if the time came, the citizens would love and respect her. She would try her best to be the best Queen she could be, like her mother once was.
