Today, Ariel was expecting a visit from Rapunzel. The former mermaid had requested to meet with the young brunette to see how everything was going with her husband and their kingdom, since there was a scare about Ursula wreaking havoc on it.
Ariel had a few hours to spare before the princess arrived. Having nothing else to do, she decided to swim in the sea for a little while. She took her time walking down to the beach but found herself quickening her step when she saw the ocean in front of her.
Though Ariel couldn't move as fast as she was used to, because of the baby, she moved around gently in the water, relaxing into the cool waves and closing her eyes as she swam.
"Whatcha doing?" Ariel heard a voice, and it startled her into opening her eyes to see where the voice had come from. Looking towards the shore, she saw that it was Rapunzel, watching what Ariel was doing curiously. Ariel must've been swimming longer than she thought.
"Rapunzel!" The redhead exclaimed, making her way back to shore. "I'm so sorry, I must've been out here longer than I thought. I'll go up and change quickly, and then we can have our discussion. Again, I'm really sorry, I should have been more mindful of the time.." Ariel
was now rambling.
Rapunzel shook her head and waved a hand in unimportance. "Oh, don't mind the meeting for a minute," she said, making Ariel stop and look at the brunette with confusion. Instead, Rapunzel looked out at the ocean curiously. "How did you do that?"
Ariel looked back at the ocean as well. "What? You mean swim?" Rapunzel nodded eagerly but bit her lip. Ariel didn't know about Rapunzel's adolescence in the tower, and how therefore she didn't know a lot of things that most people were taught when they were young. "Oh, well you just.. Uh.." The former mermaid bit her lip, realizing she didn't know how to explain swimming. It was such a natural thing to her, she couldn't really describe it. For a moment, she realized how hard it must've been for Eric to explain simple human things to her. "It would be easier if I could just show you.." she said, unsure of how Rapunzel would react.
"Okay!" The brunette replied excitedly, surprising Ariel as she came running into the water. "What do you do first?"
The redhead hadn't expected Rapunzel to start running into the water, but she didn't question it, figuring that the younger princess knew what she was doing. "Okay, well first, try this." Ariel demonstrated, and Rapunzel easily followed. "Good!" Ariel said with a smile. "Now try this…"
The two princesses spent almost two hours swimming. Rapunzel easily learned, and realized she really loved swimming. She would have to do it back in Corona more often. Finally, after both were tired, Ariel suggested, "Ready to go back to the castle to talk now?" Rapunzel nodded breathlessly, and the two headed back to the castle to change and discuss Corona.
