The day after Ruby's proposal, things in the house were happier than ever. Everyone was excited for the future, Steven especially. He was a romantic after all, so weddings were something he always were excited for. But the events of the reveal that Rose was Pink Diamond were still pretty recent. So that was in the back of mind.
While all of the Crystal Gems were out doing their own thing, Steven had something he's been wanted to do ever since he found out Rose was Pink Diamond. The boy walked out of the house, and looked around. He knew there was one gem that hadn't been somewhere else.
"Pearl!" Steven shouted.
The sword fighter was siting on the beach, staring at the sunset. She turned around with a thoughtful smile. "Yes, Steven?"
The half-gem walked down the stairs, and sat next to her. "Nothing, I just wanted to talk."
Pearl nodded, and continued to stare of into the sunset.
"It's beautiful, isn't it?" Pearl asked.
"What?"
"The sunset," she answered, "Swirling colors because a bright ball of gas is setting into the horizon."
Steven smiled. "Yeah, my dad and I used to watch it all the time when I was younger."
"Rose and I would too."
Steven looked at her. "You would?"
The Crystal Gem nodded. "Yes, it was one of the first things I introduced to her when we explored Earth together..."
"Pearl?" Rose Quartz asked, laughing a little, "Can I open my eyes, now?"
"Just wait for a moment, my Diamond," Pearl gently told her, a smile adorning her pale features, "You'll be sure to like it."
Rose smiled. "Alright. Show me when you're ready."
After a minute or two, Pearl smiled even more. "You may open your eyes now, my Diamond."
The Leader, who was now in the form of Rose Quartz, opened her eyes. She gasped, staring at the beautiful sunset with her starry eyes.
"The sky!" Rose exclaimed, "It changed color!"
"I noticed this one day when you were with the Amethysts," Pearl told her, "Do you... like it?
"Like it? I love it!" Rose shouted with glee, taking Pearl in her arms and spinning her around. The two laughed as the beautiful colors adorned the sky. Pearl blushed as Rose held her closer.
"She loved sunsets," Pearl explained to Steven, "At the end of everyday she would watch the sunset with me. It was one of my favorite things we did together."
Steven frowned. "I bet you miss it."
Pearl's eyes held a distant gaze. "I do..."
Steven then smiled, and looked at her. "Do you want to?"
"Do I want to what?"
"Want to watch the sunset with me?" Steven asked, "I know you've been feeling down lately, maybe this'll cheer you up."
Pearl beamed at the boy she's grown to know as her son. "Yes."
The two sat there, watching as the sun go into the horizon, the happy memories flooding their minds.

And that ends this oneshot! Hope you enjoyed it! Pearl and Steven's relationship has always been one of my favorites in the show. They're mother-son dynamic always warms up my heart, so seeing them make a memory that might've been seen as a sad one, a happy one, makes me smile.
