Horses in Seas
Why a horse? He didn't really know, but it had come to him: black and coat shining with moisture in some vision or dream.
Maybe that's what they called "inspiration": that image painted so perfectly in his head that getting it on to paper was just a copying job. But he didn't think it was inspiration. Inspiration implied something, bright. The horse shone, yes, but shone in its final flickering moments of life before it sunk into the ocean's depths.
And the trace of sun above was murky: the yellow sickness. That mattered. The sea mattered. The horse…sort of didn't.
