"Hey guys, what's up?" Simon slowly slid himself into the chair next to Alec. Jace looked up in puzzlement from across the smooth marble like table.
"What are you wearing?"
"It's called a shirt," replied Simon clearly annoyed by the fact that Jace was bagging his sense of clothing, as per usual.
"No, how can you 'succeed at failure'? It's not possible." Jace explained as he pointed out the words that were printed across the new bright orange shirt, which so happened to be his least favourable colour. "You either succeed or you fail. You can't succeed at failure." He firmly stated.
"Yeah you can" Simon retorted.
"Uh-uh… how?" daringly he smirked.
"Um… what if you were trying to fail, and you managed to succeed at failing?" Huffed Simon. Jay's smirk faltered.
"Who new you could get owned?" Alec commented, as a great smirk spread across his face, managing to outshine Jace's previous one.
"Who said he's right? Anyway, why would someone try to fail at something?" Jace replied, clearly frustrated, that Simon was possibly correct.
"He's got a good point… Why would someone want to fail? That's just stupid." Alec pointedly turned to face Simon, waiting for his next response.
"People have their reasons," retorted Simon.
"Such as…" questioned Jace.
"Well… you know?" Flustered Simon, as Jace raised his eyebrows in question.
"Clearly you don't know," stated Jace as he started to grin once again.
"People do succeed at failing. Kids fail their tests, and sometimes they even purposely fail school." Alec added in.
"Whose side are you on?" exclaimed Jace, shooting a pointed look right into Alec's bottle blue eyes.
"Clearly not yours. Thanks for the support." Simon smiled in appreciation before poking his tongue out in Jace's direction, like a little four-year-old child.
"I just want to see Jace lose an argument for once." Alec silently chuckled, clearly enjoying the fact that he was losing terribly.
"Gee-thanks…" muttered Jace. "But I still don't get why someone would attempt to fail a test purposely, especially to try to fail a school, overall."
"There are plenty of different reasons. They could fail a test cause they don't want to get into something, such as test to get into a new school, or cause they might be bullied at school for trying so hard to be smart or good at something. And someone may wish to fail a school as they could hate going to school everyday, as they might get bullied, or they could just be struggling in school, and believe it's just easier to fail so they can leave, and not have to deal with the pressure and strain. Each person has their own personal reasons." Explained Alec, running out of breath explaining the possible situations.
"Just like that time when Jordan purposely failed school, so he could go travel the world with his girlfriend." Added Simon feeling smug that he was winning.
"It's not really failure if you are successful at failing." Objected Jace, trying to take back the lead. "It may seem like a failure to others, but really it's a success as you managed to succeed in what you were attempting to achieve. Since it was success to you, then it wasn't failure in the first place to start with." Reasoned Jace.
"But… you still sort of succeed at failure…" Simon looked back at Alec, eyes pleading for help once more, but there was nothing else left to say. Jace had won.
"I do always win. I don't even know why you boys even bothered." Smirked Jace like a maniac who had just won the lottery. Satisfyingly he watched the both of them sink lower into their chairs, whilst shaking their heads. They almost had it, but then it all crumbled away and slipped through their slim fingers like sand.
