Heyoooo! So this is a short little one-shot about Misty revealing her true feelings to Ash, but he just got out of an abusive relationship, and he doesn't know if he can move on. Misty takes it upon herself to comfort her best friend and love of her life. "The One" by the Backstreet Boys was a huge inspiration for this; I would recommend listening to that song as you read this, enjoy!

"Ash… I know you're hurt…and I wish I could have been there for you."
"…"
A soft smile appeared on the young gym leaders face, she gently grabbed Ash's hand and picked him up
"Mist… where are you taking me?"
"Shhh, no talking Ash, just come with me, I'll take good care of you, you've got nothing to fear" Misty's emerald eyes were glowing with sincerity.
He slowly nodded his head, and walked with her. They finally came across an open stage; Misty gently sat the young raven-haired trainer down and smiled lovingly at him
"Wait here."
Left to his thoughts, Ash buried his face in his hands
"…What am I supposed to?"
And just before he was about to lose it, he heard the most beautiful voice in his life
"I'll be the one."
Ash looked up with a stunned expression on his face
"Misty?"
She looked breathtaking, she wore a glittering dark blue dress, her beautiful red locks were flowing down her backside, and her face was positively radiant
Ash could feel his heart beating out of his chest as she sauntered towards him, the music continued in the back round as Misty put her arms around him
"Ash… I.I know that all your probably feeling right now is pain…and…sniff. I want you to know…that I am here for you, hold you, and to dry your tears….
"Misty, I-I don't know if I'll ever trust anyone that way again…he…he hurt me too deeply" Ash began sobbing
"Ash…. he won't hurt you anymore, I'm here for you…. Please trust me."
"I-I want to Misty! Believe me, I WANT TO!"
Misty hugged her best friend tightly as he cried into her shoulder
They both stood quietly for a few minutes, Misty began collecting her thoughts, she needed to tell him, and she was running out of time.
It was now or never
"Ash, you need me, I need you, let me show you what true love means, just let me in, baby please."
He looked up at her
"Ash…I love you."
At this Ash's eyes widened, and he smiled
"Misty…. I…I love you too!"
As Ash grabbed Misty's chin, she wrapped her arms around his neck, and when their lips finally met, their hearts soared with jubilation as they kissed
Off in the distance, Ash's ex-boyfriend, Paul, grinned and blew a tiny kiss at Ash
"I know you'll be happy now, goodbye, Ash." He walked away smiling and flew on white wings of into the starry night.
Ash and Misty finally parted their lips and nuzzled their noses together, and both sighed happily.
The young red-haired nineteen-year-old opened her mouth to speak, but Ash laid his soft lips on hers as the song was ending,
"You'll always be the one." He sang and changed the last sentence of the song, which earned a huge loving smile from Misty, and she cupped his cheeks and reciprocated the kiss.
Hope y'all enjoyed this little one-shot! Sorry comashippers! Maybe I'll write a backstory of sorts explaining all of this…hmmm.
