The Raging Attack of the Twilight Usurper King
Zelda could hear the outside walls of Hyrule Castle being shattered, and the Twilight magic being preformed through a series of incomprehensible yelps and groans. The otherwise impenetrable metal doors were being broken through as if they were made of twigs and glue. The Princess of Hyrule could do nothing except grip her sword more firmly.
Guards were frantically running back and forth until they finally found positions they felt comfortable enough to fight in. Zelda knew the castle wouldn't last long underneath the might of Twilight. Could Light prevail after so many years? Or had Light's power slowly eroded away while Twilight grew stronger every century? She pushed these thoughts to the back of her mind and awaited the battle that was yet to come.
The sounds of shadows and terror were becoming louder. The destruction of walls and the yells of guards were becoming more frequent and desperate. Zelda could only wait until Zant and his minions finally crashed through the doorway and killed everyone. She became more and more doubtful that the power of light will be crushed from the force of shadows and darkness.
"We must win," Zelda whispered to herself. She knew if Hyrule castle didn't prevail, the entire world of light will crumble. The metal doors of her throne room began being pounded on by Zant's Twilight creatures. The doors finally gave way and crashed open with a loud scream of Twilight magic. Twilight crystal fog swept through the room and swirled around guards and statues. Zelda could see flashes of twilight beasts swarming through the room and attacking guards.
Zelda took one step back, but held firm. The fog cleared and she could finally see her adversary. A tall man in robes of purple and black strode into the room. He wore a mask that looked like a demonic serpent, which concealed his entire face. Along side of him were two beasts with masks of iron and twilight writing carved on the front.
Looking away from Zant, Zelda saw that every guard, except the ones around her throne, was captured by the twilight beasts. She turned back to her opponent and readied for a fight.
Zant finally spoke, in a soft, dangerous voice. "It's time for you to choose: surrender or die."
Zelda shuddered and avoided looking at him, hearing his words was like icy fingers clenching her heart. All the death that this man had caused . . . and for what?
But the Usurper King was still talking. "A question for all the land and people of Hyrule . . . life? Or death?!"
She gazed at the closest soldier, who had a Twilight being's hand around his throat, legs waving pointlessly below him as he fought to stay alive.
Zelda couldn't think. Live, but have the entire world of light taken over by twilight, or die, and still have the world devoured by twilight. The Princess of Light finally decided. She let her sword slip from her grasp. The world of light's only hope was for the Hero of Time's descendant to be awakened.
