She knocked on the door. He spun around to see the intruder, hands still on his bow tie. He looked surprised to see her, his hands fell away from his neck. "Bones," he whispered, "I didn't expect . . ."

"I know, Seeley," She replied, "I don't even know why I'm here."

He went over to her, drew her into the room to sit on the bed, closed the door and sat beside her. She promptly moved farther away. "You always have a reason for everything you do, Bones."

"No, I always had a reason, not anymore. So much has gone on and changed that sometimes I can't tell up from down. It's just been difficult," She said finally.

"I know what that's like, but that still doesn't explain why you showed up at my wedding." He said the word that she dreaded. He began to fiddle with his untied bow tie.

"Here," she shooed his hands away and tied it with expert fingers, "Like I said, I don't know. I was always so illogical when it came to you, I still am." She brushed her fingers against his neck, making him shiver, before dropping her hands back into her lap.

"Things got so messed up between us, Bones, and I just don't understand what went wrong, and if I could go back and change things then I would be marrying you today, not her." He said, reaching out for her. She let him draw her nearer.

She opened her mouth and drew a deep breath, "You left, I gave you everything and you left me." A tear rolled down her cheek, but she brushed it away, he still noticed.

"That's why you left, you thought I left you?" He sounded appalled, "I always thought that I did something wrong, Bones, I never dreamed . . ." He trailed off.

"Never dreamed what?" She looked up.

"You didn't get the letter I left, did you?" He asked softly.

"Letter?" She croaked, swallowing.

"I was only gone for two weeks, Bones, but it was an undercover assignment, I left a letter on the kitchen counter for you, I wasn't supposed to tell anyone, but I couldn't let you think I had run out on you."

"I never got a letter, Seeley," She was crying freely now, he held her close as she sobbed into his shoulder. He didn't give a second thought to the woman he was supposed to walk out and marry in ten minutes, he didn't give another thought to anything other than the woman in his arms. When her tears subsided, she sat up and looked at him. "I never got the letter, and now it's too late."

"It's never too late, Bones. Never." His intense stare made her feel warm.

"Of course it is, you're about to get married," She whispered.

"I can be a runaway groom, if I had thought for one second that there was a chance to get you back I would have fought, but when I found the note you left saying that I wasn't allowed to call or there would be consequences, I figured you were just done, and there wasn't anything left to fight for." He brushed her cheek with the back of his hand, "I should have known better."

"What about her, your fiancé?" She questioned, her heart beating fast at what he was going to do for her, she couldn't let herself believe in this, not now.

"She's a lovely woman, but she's not you, no one in this world holds a candle to you, Bones." He said, still staring at her.

"You really mean it. You'll really give your life away?"

"You are my life," He told her, bending down to kiss her.

She put a hand on his chest to stop her. "You've never cheated on a woman yet, and I won't break that. Do what you have to do, if you want to find me I'm still in my old apartment, if you don't, well, I'll understand." She looked at him from under her lashes.

He stood and pulled her up with him, pulling her into a hug he whispered in her ear, "I'll always come for you, Bones."

I don't own Bones. Hope y'all liked it enough to review.
