This drabble was inspired by Tasha's:
"While they didn't agree with her choice of partner, the pair could barely contain their mirth while watching their only daughter marrying the man she loved; it was a bittersweet day."
A Marriage of Aggrievance
It was a bright and crisp spring morning; sunshine fluttering gently through the budding leaves of a great oak. The gentle tinkling of an out of sight stream reached distracted ears, like the chattering of old friends in the distance. Warmth trickled directly from the sun into their hearts. While they didn't agree with her choice of partner, the pair could barely contain their mirth while watching their only daughter marrying the man she loved; it was a bittersweet day.
The Burrow's splendor rivaled that of Bill and Fleur's wedding, so many years before. Great, glittering gems sparkled from the path that led to the ancient copse. A metaphor, her father thought, for the man their daughter had chosen to marry: a diamond flickering against a scruffy and less desirable backdrop. "He's not as dreadful as you think, you know" scolded the woman, her fiery hair speckled with grey.
"Oh, he is. He's managed to charm you. You've been hoodwinked. You don't see it. He's just as bad as his father was." Her husband threw back, a frown twisting his lips.
"You of all people should know that sons are not their fathers!" Ginny snapped at him, impatience igniting her eyes.
Draco looked towards the groom, taking in his shaking hands, bobbing Adam's apple and eyes that darted towards his own every other second. They boy was terrified, just like his father as a child. Weak genes, that's what it was.
"I suppose there is something to be said for him. He hasn't wet himself yet, at least." Draco proclaimed, condescendingly.
"Oh for goodness sake, Draco. Neville never wet himself either! Just be happy for her, she's your daughter."
Draco gave a long suffering sigh and conceded.
"Well. At least he's not a Potter."
"That's the spirit, darling."
