Darkness-
Just a little drabble. Not really Twilight or Supernatural related…may add it to one of my stories. Don't know yet. Thanks! Let me know what you think! PLEASE!
She welcomes the dark as the sun slowly sets. It comforts her, as she lies awake knowing she has to deal with no one else's problems but her own. But the dark, however, is cold and isolates her from the world which she sees is both a blessing and a curse.
She shivers under the blankets, the cold permiating the fabric reminding her of her isolation.
But today is special... She is not alone. One companion is with her sharing her isolation with loyalty and undying love. A grey tabby with short stubby legs like her own and long silky fur seeks refuge from the cold burrowing herself under her masters' covers. She presses her soft body against her master, purring contently as she warms up, drifting to sleep moments later.
The happy moment drifts away as time passes, each tick of the clock echoing through the dark, magnifying the sounds of laughter that have bounded their way off the barren walls to her ears from the floor below.
The sounds tear at her aching heart as she listens, ripping her heart into two. One small part wishing to abandon the warmth of her bed and her sleeping companion to join her family downstairs, knowing that someday her family will be gone and she'll wish with all her might that she could rewind time... But you can't change the past.
The other part of her overrides her emotion, reminding her that no matter how badly she yearns for the love and affection of her family... She knows her family does not want her. They shun her, not caring to listen to anything she says, or does, refusing to acknowledge her presence, forcing her into exile.
So instead she stays in her own personal hell, her depression captivating her like iron shackles, refusing to break. Her one small reprieve from depressions' iron hold are her closest co-workers. Their souls shine so bright like the sun, they banish the darkness momentarily, and she forgets how lonely she really is.
