Trouble Lurking is the twenty-fifth theme of my 100 Themes Challenge~
Oh yeah, didn't put any description of the battle in.
Sorry?
I knew I'd get burned if I left it or put it in so idc :3
Morty didn't think he'd experienced anyone quite like her before. Her looks firstly, the trouble lurking behind that deceptive smile of confidence.
Her odd hat, her jacket and shorts and shoes and the way she sauntered through the darkness. Then there was the way she talked.
What on earth? It was an unplaceable accent; at first he wouldve identified it as outlandish, but there was something else. She was bright, cocky, calculating, sly, but also carefree, honest and evidently very kind.
She wasn't rude, but she wasn't shy.
"Yo, Mortimer," she called out to him, tossing her pokéball between her hands, only stopping to mess with the candles either side of their battle field. She chuckled. "Fancy giving us a battle? All these badges and Pokémon league- they kinda fill the time as a side thing, ya know?"
Morty grunted, unamused and unimpressed. Externally. He inwardly laughed, but even then it was a bitter, humourless sound. "You think this battle will be easy, kid?" he snapped.
The girl thought about it a moment, or at least pretended to. "The other three were." she smirked.
That meant business. This kid needed to be kicked down a few pegs.
But suddenly her face softened. "I really like this place." she said, smiling a little more comfortably this time.
Morty blinked. But the prospect of battle overwhelmed him.
Then there was her Pokémon team. He only saw two Pokémon, but they were enough to trump any stereotypes about her. She was obviously a newbie trainer, collecting badges, so when she tossed her first pokéball out he expected a Chikorita at the very least, maybe even a Bayleef or Meganium and was met with a suprise. The Pokémon that emerged from her standard pokéball was a serious looking Quilava, a determined glare in it's eyes as it eyed up Morty's Ghastly.
"Cherry; Flamethrower!" the girl ordered, blonde hair bobbing on her hair as she stretched an arm out to emphasise her command. Morty's first two Pokémon went down in flames.
Then there was her second Pokémon. It was the biggest shock. A Gengar. It looked like a very hasty ghost Pokémon but Morty saw the trust and admiration it had for it's trainer.
The girl grinned at Morty's own Gengar.
"Come at me, bro." she teased.
Morty did, foolishly. Never had he been so easily manipulated.
"Shadow Ball, go!"
"Sucker punch, Gaspar!"
He gasped. "Hypnosis, then!"
"Finish it with Dark Pulse, Gasp!"
It was certainly an unaccounted turn of events. She didn't even look smug about her victory, and this made it difficult for Morty to hate her.
[Pokémon]
Amzaar travels Johto for one main reason- to catch Entei. She knows that Team Rocket want their hands on this Pokémon, and it was Team Rocket that tortured her beloved Gengar, DeathGaze. As such, she exercises justice by travelling in search of the great beast so that Team Rocket don't capture it and torture it first. She got her first three badges much against her will. To Amzaar, they're just the side bonuses to her mission. Morty is the first Gym Leader she directly challenges.
