Always
The day you realize who you should really be with might be the day that she tells you you've waited too long.
He stood, numb, watching the scene around him. A siren was sounding somewhere in the distance. Her body lay on the ground, her breathing was shallow. Her friends stood nearby, crying and holding on to each other. A gun lay hidden in the bushes. He was screaming her name.
"No, no." He blinked back his tears and ran to her, ignoring the protests of the police officers.
The boy dropped down beside her, his head in his hands.
"Katie. Please, don't leave me. Promise me." His tears were falling freely as he sobbed.
She smiled slightly. He traced her jaw line with his finger; she couldn't leave him. Not now.
Promise me. He mouthed.
He would do anything..
Her eyes fluttered.
"Promise me, Katie. You can't leave me. Please, I'll do anything. Just don't give up. I need you, Katie. I Love you. Don't give up. Don't.." He brushed his lips against hers.
She closed her eyes. He took her hand in his.
"I gotta go now, Freddy."
He blinked through his tears. Her breathing died down. He clung to her, or perhaps he was clinging to his own remaining shreds of life.
Alright, I was inspired by a quote I was reading earlier, and I had to turn it into something. I must admit, the "I gotta go now, Freddy." is from the movie Simon Birch, which I just finished watching in Social Studies. I know it's short, but whatever. Did you like it? Please review, they make me smile.
