Grandma opened the door slowly. At first all they could see was blood. Gallons of it, everywhere. Winry stiffed a scream.

As their eyes adjusted to the darkness, the small oil lamp being their only light source, they saw what can only be described as the most horrid creature laying in the center of the largest puddle of blood Winry had ever seen.

It appeared to have what looked to be the body of a human, but it was distorted to such a form that the idea of this monstrosity ever being human was an insult all itself. It was laying with its limbs bent backwards appearing double jointed. The creatures torso was openly displaying an array of non-functioning organs. The face was frozen in a position that gave the impression that it had died in mid-scream but the face muscles never relaxed.

Winry's eyes adverted to Edward whom was kneeling down banging his fist to the floor. He kept crying and repeating "WHY? WHY? WHY? It wasn't supposed to be like this. This wasn't supposed to happen!"

It took her a second to realize that Edward's leg was missing. The only thing left was a stump that made it to about mid-thigh and a track of blood following where he had dragged himself. No signs of where his leg had gone. There was nothing left.

In the center of the room surrounding the grotesque creature there was a foreign transmutation circle. What had they done?
