I sat on the bed. He was gone. The great saviour of Olympus was gone. I wiped the tears away from my eyes.
"It's alright…
…I'm alright."
He stared at me. His sea green eyes shined despite it just being his spirit.
"No,
You're not."
My eyes watered, and I held back tears. My clenched fists shook with emotion as did the rest of my body.
"Why do you keep talking to me!?
You're making this harder!"
He blinked. The smile fell from his face. My heart sank.
"Emma…"
I couldn't take his presence anymore. It was overwhelming. He wasn't really there. It was just his apparition. I shook my head and took a deep breath.
"Just go away!"
I pulled at my hair.
"Go!
Leave me alone!"
He opened his mouth to speak, but I couldn't hear him. The tears were already flowing. I hid my face.
"Please!
Please!"
My body tremored with sobs. He faded away. I buried my face in my comforter to muffle my scream. I punched the bed post next to me. I kicked the chair roughly. I collapsed onto the ground. I screamed.
"Why…
Why him?
Why did you choose him!?"
I pulled myself to the bed and cried into my pillow.
"Why couldn't it be me!?
Why him!?"
I choked and gasped for air.
"Why him!?
Why do the good ones die young!?"
Annabeth entered the room. She held a picture in her hands.
"The Fates are cruel."
She put the picture on the wall. It was him. I stared at the picture.
"You loved him."
My voice was hollow and quiet. I continued to stare at the picture. His hair. His smile. His eyes. Annabeth laughed lightly and faced me.
"I love him."
My cheeks itched from the tears.
"How can you still survive?
How do you still live and move on?"
My eyes never left him. Annabeth sat down next to me.
"I haven't moved on.
I won't ever move on."
She looked at me and smiled softly.
"He was a seaweed brain,
Wasn't he?"
I gave a small nod. A half-hearted smile and laugh came to me.
"Yeah.
He was."
