He was built to be the ultimate source of knowledge. Well, not knowledge itself. No, no, more so knowledge regarding the topic of outer space. Place a bet that he couldn't answer any space related question and you're guaranteed to go home bankrupted. And yet he did not know everything about space. The scientists assured him he did, but deny it he did. For somewhere deep within him he realized a sense of emptiness. An emptiness meant to be filled with space.
Wandering halls, paying no heed to a word anybody spoke to him. The only thing occupying his mind was space. Clouded with thought, he disregarded the drop in the floor and wound up tumbling down the staircase. Though the pain throughout his body was great, he was more so impressed by the vision he had seen for a split second. A glimpse of what he needed to be complete.
So as one may very well imagine he felt the need to find such a place again. Neither hurling himself down the stairs nor throwing himself into a turret's line of fire had brought back such a place. Eventually he had come to his senses, realizing that the answer did not lie within his physical suffering.
Sleep, hunger and hygiene were no longer priorities of his. His lips sealed shut for months on end, pondering the limitless boundaries of outer space. His blue tinted brethren insisting he sit down for a cup of coffee. The chatter produced from said being went in one ear and out the other. He was almost finished, yes the puzzle was nearly complete. He sat there contemplating for hours on end, it seemed. Threads intertwined in his ever expanding mind. Suddenly something snapped. The key uncovered, the door opened. His pupils dilated as he felt himself entering a separate material plane. Yes, everything is clear now. He could see forever. He could see into eternity. And such excitement erupted within him that he screamed. He allowed his voice to travel through every galaxy in the universe, not caring who heard him. Such joy flowed through his veins, such wisdom in his mind.
The beauty of it all is too lovely. So beautiful, too much so for all to comprehend. For now he would be the only one in possession of such vital information. Disguised in insanity, hiding brilliance he uttered this one word:
"Space."
