I don't think of you now.
I don't.
But if I were to, it would be as an incandescent being. Ethereal, luminous in your virtue. A paragon of brilliance and blinding youth whose light only stabs my grey shadow more harshly into the world.
If I were to think of you - imagine you - it would be those brief days we shared. In the darkness, dirt and scars of a war just won, you ran your hands down my body. Your glowing fingertips rolled over my skin like soft white pearls, while I clawed at your raven hair.
I think of you no longer. The keen desire that once ricocheted inside my mind, and the stinging brightness with it, has faded.
There was a time when I would have done anything for you, but not any more. I would keep that feather light mirage of memory, untainted until my dying day, and ask never to lay my true eyes upon your form again - and yet... And yet, I await the day when you return world-tainted, life-worn, to my door.
With stained hands, you would take a hold of me, and this time not let go.
