Surprise Visitors

The water washed over me and relaxed my muscles, tense from a long day in front of the computer. "This article will be the death of me," I said to myself as I let the warm water soothe the aches.

The floor outside the bathroom creaked. "What on Earth could that be?" if they are from Earth, I wondered. "K-9, is that you?" I called, hoping it was my metal dog.

"Mistress?" he sounded from the attic.

"It's nothing K-9, just wondering where you were." I must be more stressed than I thought, hear things and getting paranoid like that.

A moment later the floor creaked again. "I know that wasn't K-9, now who, or what, is there?!"

There was no answer. A slight chill ran down my spine and renewed my fear.

I should probably make sure that nothing's there, 'better safe than sorry.' I got out of the shower and turned the water off before drying myself and dressing. I quietly peaked out into my room and saw nothing there. I cautiously continued out into my bedroom, but nothing jumped out at me, and the room was in perfect order.

There was a thud downstairs. I dashed to the stairway just in time for my door to be kicked in. I jumped and gasped at the sudden action. I heard another crash in another part of the house.

"That way men!" the Brigadier shouted.

I ran down the stairs to me old friend. "What's this all about Alistair?"

"Sorry for the intrusion Miss Smith, but it seems you have a slight alien infestation."

"How did you find out?"

"That tin dog of yours."

There was the sound of a short struggle coming from the sitting room before one of the men called out, "Creature secure sir!"

"Good work men! Take it to the truck," he called back before turning to me, "It was nice seeing you again Miss Smith."

"The feeling's mutual, but you're not going anywhere until you fix my door Brigadier," I told him with all seriousness.

With a look in his eye that said he knew not to cross me he agreed and gave his boys from U.N.I.T. the necessary orders before getting to work on my door.
