Snowballs

Pairing: Samus and Marth

The world was covered in white; the trees seeming to have vanilla frosting coated over their branches and the sky looking like a troubled stormy sea with white froth spilling over. Icy crystals fell softly unto one another in the silence as if building a city piece by piece. The street lamps cast a warm glow onto the ground like sunshine on a summer day. It was beautiful. At least to her it was.

She stood there in the cold, her warm breath turning into shifting white against the grey background. White snowflakes fell softly onto her golden blond hair as she stuck out her tongue to catch a few. Her blue eyes danced with light. A scarf was wrapped snuggly around her neck and she wore a thick blue sweater with her hands in the pockets. The bottoms of her jeans were soaked, making them slightly stiff when they started to freeze.

She didn't care though.

Next to her stood a man with a shock of blue hair and a pale face that reflected the white scene perfectly. His midnight blue eyes gazed out into the distance, though they didn't sparkle like the woman's did. He was garbed in a blue sweater and sweatpants that were somewhat drier then his companion's happened to be. A small gold colored tiara rested on the top of his head.

The woman twirled in place, her smile never retreating. She was just as beautiful as the surrounding area, if not more. Her cheeks were red as were her ears but this didn't bother her one bit. She loved the snow.

"Come on Marth you have to try this!"

She stuck her tongue out again and laughed as the crystals melted in her mouth.

"I'm fine, thanks Samus."

"Oh don't be a spoil-sport! Try it!"

He reluctantly stuck his own tongue out, catching a few snow tears on their downward descent. Samus giggled.

The next thing he knew was that his face was covered in snow and Samus was laughing hysterically as she gathered more snow into her gloved hands. A playful smile tugged at Marth's lips a bit, and he bent down, scooping up some snow and tossing it in her direction. She dodged it with a twirl and fired her own ice missile at him with a chuckle. He caught it.

"No fair!"

"Is too fair."

This time the snowball hit Samus in the face and she dramatically fell over and played dead. Marth strode over and sat down next to her as she started to laugh again while sitting up.

"Nice shot."

He smiled.

"I love the snow. It's so beautiful," she said finally after a long pause.

He glanced over at her. "Yeah, it is."

She missed the fact that he was talking about her.

"I wish it snowed here more often…"

He didn't answer. She laughed when a snowflake fell on his nose and he sneezed.

"Allergic to snow now are we?"

He grinned. "That would mean I would be allergic to water."

Their hands touched. He was about to pull away and apologize but she held on, suddenly feeling warm despite the cold. Her cheeks were slowly turning a deeper shade of red.

She didn't know what she was doing when she kissed him, leaning up and closing her eyes. She seemed hesitant at first and then returned it, wrapping his warm arms around her. They kissed for a long while until they ran out of air. By now Samus' whole face was red and she thought she could detect a slight blush on Marth's cheeks.

"Wow…"

He smiled at her, brushing some soggy hair out of his face. His eyes were twinkling now.
