One Slow Dance

Harry's POV

Butterflies stirred in at the pit of my stomach when I looked at her. She was so beautiful, I thought, staring at her just a few feet away. She glanced at me, smiling; she looked so nice. For a second I wish I was handsome. Ginny says, 'It's hard to look in the mirror sometimes when everyone has everything you'd rather be.' I think she's right. She's dancing with him - her face is full of smiles and laughter as he twirls her around. She looks even more beautiful.

I can't remember the time or place,
or what you were wearing.
It's unclear about how we met,
all I know it was the best conversation that I've ever had.

At last, the song ends. I decide it's time to make my move. I walk up to her. "Do you want to dance?" The song starts playing; it's a nice, slow dance one. She nods, and I'm ecstatic inside. I put my arms around her, grinning. She grins back. I pull her closer and whisper in her ear, "I want to admit something to you."

To this day I never found someone,
with eyes as brown as yours.
I've been searching up and down this coast,
overlooking what I need the most.

She rests her head against my shoulder. Her cheek feels so good against mine. "What?" She whispers softly. I open my mouth, but no sound came out.

Did you notice I was afraid?

"Hermione," I start, trying to find the right words.

I thought I'd run out of things to say.
Two more hours until today burns this away,
and it starts all over again.

She picked her head up and stared into my eyes. Her lips were only a mere inch away. I could feel her warm breath against my face. I looked away. "Ever since...well I don't know how long, but..."

"But what, Harry?" Her face looks so sincere. So caring. She puts me at ease.

"I love you," I said, so softly I could barely hear myself. I closed my eyes, waiting for rejection, but it didn't come.

The sky will never look the same again,
until you show me how it could be.

"I love you, too," She murmurs, her eyes closed and tears coming down her cheeks. "I never thought you did too...I didn't think it was possible - "

"Me either," I said, smiling and I pulled her closely to me, so happy that she was in my arms.
