Penelope was looking at the photo album, she had on her hands; Photos of their family throughout the time.
Tears welled up in her eyes as she stared at the photos of these past few years, years after years someone was missing. First it had been Rossi, then Gideon; Kevin had followed them not long after because of a stupid accident, leaving her alone with their twins…
Now, only remained JJ, Emily, Reid and her… because soon HE would be leaving them.
Aaron had been killed on the line of duty leaving a grieving Emily…
Penelope quickly wiped her tears away as Derek was stirring in his bed.
"Hey baby girl." He said with a weak voice.
"Good morning hot stuff."
"Thank you for coming."
"I wouldn't be anywhere else." She whispered.
He coughed and Penelope drew a glass of water to his mouth.
"Thanks."
"Where are the children?"
"I sent them back home. I didn't want them to be here when I..."

They kept talking for a while, the nurses checking on him from time to time.
"What do you have here baby Girl?" Derek asked staring at the album.
"It's our family photo album. We have lives some many happy times together… and yet there were the loss of…"
"I know… but it's life circle…we're meant to leave some day."
"I know, it's just so sad and painful…"
"Penelope, even if I married her, loved her and had those beautiful children with her; you have always been the only one I have loved deeply…"
"Derek…"
"I know… we are best friends and all… but you can't deny it. I married Cheryl, you married Kevin... but the kind of love we share is unique."
Now Penelope was crying silently.
"You're right…I have known all these years but what we had, our friendship was so important… I have no regrets…I had a beautiful life with Kevin and we remained best friends… what could I ask for more?"
"I have no regrets either. We were still there for each other, and I thank God for having you in my life…I love you princess."
"I love you too sweetness."
She smiled sadly as he closed his eyes, she knew that was the last time she would see, his deep brown eyes. She stayed beside him throughout the night and when the morning came he passed away peacefully.
Penelope couldn't help but cry over her friend's death, but no matter what happened in their lives, at least they had had what is called a beautiful friendship that lasted over than 40 years.
A/N: it's a little sad, it was just going through my head for weeks and I had to write it.
