Repeating History

"I am pregnant," It slipped from Rory Gilmore's lips, making Lorelai's own lips drop in shock. It was not that she didn't know this day would could some day. It was just the fact that Rory was usually responsible when it came to stuff like that. Her mind railed back to the day when she told her mother the same, but she quickly shut that out.

"Alright, and what do you want to do?" Lorelai Gilmore asked, it was the most diplomatic answer after all. She knew she had to support her whether she choose to keep it or not.

"I…don't know," it came out as a whisper, clearly her daughter was scared of either consequence. Or maybe it was regret over acting careless or that the father could not be in the picture.

"Have you told him…the father?" her mother wondered, looking at her with sympathetic eyes.

"I…no, we decided to end things before I found out. He is engaged, how could I be this stupid," Rory said frustrated, Lorelai pulled her close, kissing the top of her head, "You'll be alright, kid."

"How do you know?" Rory asked confused, glad her mother didn't show her the door for this. In her heart she knew she never would due to her own past.

"Because you are a Gilmore, somehow we always land on our feet," she said, pressing a kiss to her daughter's head. She couldn't help but to love her to bits, no matter how badly she messed up.

"You are not mad at me for this ?" Rory was a little surprised, she had expected her to flip out more about it.

"No, we all make mistake, it's how we fix it that matters," said her mother wisely. Rory couldn't help but to wonder how her mom got that smart. She always had the answers to everything.

"And if I choose to have this baby?" insecurity in both her voice and eyes as she looked upon her mother.

"Then I will be there as I always have, every step of the way. It is my first grandchild after all," said Lore with a small laugh, feeling the soft wind gracing her face. Nothing could bring her down today, not even this, it was after all her wedding day, the worries could continue tomorrow.

"Are you sure?" Rory wondered, looking at her. For a short moment Lorelai thought she saw the young girls she once had been, but those days were long gone.

"Absolutely, and I am sure Luke will be as thrilled as I am by the thought of being a grandparent," she eyed her husband arguing with Taylor about something or other, shaking her head.

"I think…I think I will keep it," Rory said thoughtfully, picturing how she would be like as a mother. She couldn't quite picture it, but she knew one thing she would love that child just as much as her mother had always loved her.

"Good, would you be okay if I went over to Luke?" Lorelai wondered, feeling she needed some time with her husband right then.

"No, go, go," Rory encouraged with a big smile, how could she deny her that, it was after all her wedding day.

Lorelai kissed the top of her head once more, before walking over to Luke to drag him away from Taylor, she didn't yet know that that night the two of them would make a baby. The only difference was that this time she was married to the father of the baby.

She looked over at her daughter, her lost little baby, knowing they would be alright. She didn't know how, but she knew, before she turned her attention to her husband, kissing him lovingly as so many times before. Her heart beating fast and hard over the love she felt for him. She smiled into the kiss, feeling nothing but bliss. This, this she knew was a day she would remember forever and it would be one of the happiest in her life.
