Chapter One
No matter how I try, can't get away from it.
A low sigh, ruffling of dark navy fabric.
It's innevitable. It can't be helped anymore.
The impatient tapping of fingers on a tabletop, another sigh.
I can't hide it from him anymore, I can't run.
Leaning back on the chair, silver hair obscuring vision.
I can't run from rejection anymore.
A single dark eye stared up at the ceiling. Where was he? When he agreed to private training, he expected his student to be on time.
He WAS an Uchiha, after all. Aren't they supposed to be watchful and precise?
Bored expressions transitioning on a pale face, as Kakashi leaned forward on the table again. He slowly looked around the kitchen and let a yawn stretch the fabric of his mask.
Ding dong
Finally.
Took him long enough.
The scarecrow looked at the wall clock.
No, he was only four minutes late.
Maybe he was just impatient.
Or anxious.
"Oi, Kakashi-sensei. Open the door."
He heard the voice.
Finally, Sasuke was here.
Getting up, Kakashi crossed the house and swung the door open slowly.
"Right. You're here." he drawled, looking down at the boy in front of him.
The boy who had such potential.
Such hope for power in the future.
The boy who scared the jounin the most.
Kakashi wasn't afraid of the potential of strength that Sasuke held deep in his heart. Gods, no. He was afraid of what Sasuke might say...
If he told him the secret.
Running is for the weak, does that make me a coward?
Of course it does.
Would he not want to talk to him? Would he avoid him at all costs?
Would he hate him?
Sasuke looked up at Kakashi, somewhat of an annoyed view on his face. "What's with you?" he asked, crossing his arms.
For such a little kid, he had spunk.
"Something so horrible that it's keeping us from training?" he continued, making Kakashi twitch.
The jounin's hand traced through the Uchiha's hair slowly, hardened eyes looking down on the boy with a little bit of something Sasuke couldn't place.
Something Sasuke couldn't place yet.
"You'll know..." Kakashi said slowly, picking the right words to roll off his tongue, "When you're ready. I care about your future too much to let you know now... In time."
When I'm ready, all secrets will unfold. You will know everything, my boy. When you're ready, you will know the truth, and I just pray to the heavens that you can cope...
