I don't own Final Fantasy. Square Enix does.

Cohen was a boy from a poor family and had no special talents. He was an obese child and failing school when he was eleven until he was kidnapped by a gang whom his father had offended. Due to the quick investigation done by local police forces, no harm came to him. He then decided he would work hard and become a police officer. Cohen did just that. He worked as hard as he could, studying for hours every day, dieting, and exercising. He eventually became the chief of the Zanarkand police department.

Sara's mother died when Sara was only fourteen and she was left to fend for herself and her eight younger brothers and sisters while her father worked two full-time jobs to support his children. Needless to say, Sara became quite adept at cooking. When she was nineteen, Sara opened a small restaurant to help her father financially. Her restaurant was extremely successful and now she is the owner of a large restaurant chain.

"Put your hands up!" yelled the man in the black mask. He was holding a gun up to the head of the manager of the Sara's Steakhouse. "Give me all your money!"

Cohen had been enjoying his celebration dinner for his promotion to lieutenent of police in Zanarkand when he heard the commotion across the restaurant. The burglar would have been successful if there hadn't been fifteen police officers celebrating Cohen's promotion. The policemen had the burglar surrounded in moments. He was quickly arrested.

That was how Cohen met Sara. He asked her a few questions about the robbery and topped it off with an invitation to dinner. The two hit it off and got married six months later.

"It's a boy!" proclaimed the doctor. He clipped the umbilical cord and gave the baby to its mother.

"Isn't he beautiful, Cohen?" asked a new mother, holding her newborn son in her arms.

"He sure is, Sara," replied her husband, Cohen.

The couple were in their mid-thirties and had been trying to have a child for over ten years. They had worked their way up their career ladders, but still felt unfulfilled. Today, they were the happiest people in the world.

They were both proud of the hard work they had put into their jobs, but nothing in the world could compare to their pride in their new little boy.

"What should we name him?" Cohen asked his wife.

"I don't know, the ultrasound showed that he would be a girl," replied Sara. "I already thought about girl names, but I guess we can't name him Ruth."

Cohen laughed. "Ha! We sure can't. Well, I can't think of anything either."

"How about Eugene?" asked Sara.

"Are you serious? Do you know how much a kid named Eugene would get made fun of?" asked Cohen. "Let's name him after my grandfather."

"Your grandfather?" asked Sara. "Hmm... I can't recall his name. Everyone always just called him Pappers when I was around."

"Yeah, he never really liked his name," replied Cohen. "He insisted that eveyone call him Pappers once his grandkids were born. I liked his name though. It was Jecht."

"I love it!" replied Sara. "Our little baby Jecht."

Both of them smiled, thinking of their family's perfect future that seemed guaranteed by their circumstances. But their circumstances were soon to change...
