Oh me oh my I know I have another fic I haven't updated in months that I should be updating. But, I got stuck and have been writing dumb oneshots instead.
I swear I'll update it soon. For now have a oneshot~
It was one of those rare days where the smog cover over Greenville cracked enough to let the sunlight peak through, the weather wasn't too hot or too cold, and the air smelled less of smogulous smoke, or schloppity schlop.
Once-ler stared out of the kitchen window looking at what was definitely going to be one of the best days of the year, which he would most likely have to stay inside for. He was aloud outside but, not without some sort of supervision that only really included Ma or Greed-ler.
It's too dangerous Greed-ler would chide him when he asked, Do you know how many enemies I have who would love to hurt you to get to me? Or the most common one said from both Ma and Greed-ler, I'm too busy maybe another day.
Usually Once-ler would have no problem staying around the factory, it was a pretty large place, and he still had an area of truffula trees that he had convinced Greed-ler not to cut. But, the city is where he wanted to go, there were people to see, and things to do.
Once-ler was brought out of his thoughts by the sound of a mug and liquid being poured into it. Greed-ler walked around the table and flopped into the chair across, still looking half asleep.
"Morning." Once-ler chuckled at the disheveled man in front of him.
He humphed downing half the coffee in one swig, glaring at the rarely seen sunlight of the morning.
"What the fuck is wrong with the outside."
"It's called sunlight, you should get out in it sometime instead of holed up in your office from dawn till' all hours of the night."
Greed-ler scowled too tired to make a comeback and just finished the rest of his coffee silently glowering at the world around him. Once-ler sighed knowing it was pointless to even attempt to talk to Greed-ler after one of his working nights.
"The usual for breakfast?" He asked walking over to the cabinets to pull out the usual ingredients for pancakes.
"Why don't we go out for breakfast."
Once-ler dropped the tub of butter and spun around astonished at what he just heard, he tried to read Greed-ler's face for any sign of joking or smugness but, he simply stared out the window lazily as if he hadn't said anything.
"W-what was that?"
"Not in the mood to repeat myself, if you didn't hear me to bad."
Greed-ler was now tapping the mug impatiently waiting for an answer, that he already knew.
"Yes, I would love to go out for breakfast." Once-ler answered still not quite comprehending that Greed-ler actually wanted to willingly leave the lurkim for something other than publicity.
"Good, be ready in 20."
He got up from the table walking over to the tub of butter, picking it up and put it back in Once-ler's hands. Greed-ler patted Once-ler's head as he walked out of the kitchen whistling a random tune.
Once-ler replaced the tub of butter and smiled happily as he did so.
It was definitely one of those rare days.
