Defense
I barely knew Toby's brother, but I showed up because Cassie asked me to. Our support could make a difference with the jury. She'd asked Naomi to defend him, too. Maybe because nobody else would. Funny how many people were willing to believe something that looked like that would kill a kid, even when all the evidence said "human."
She did fine. I was busy watching Jordan. Covering the trial for the college paper, she had this look in her eyes like she wanted to get up and punch the other lawyer in the face.
She looked just like Rachel.
