Hi guys! This is my first story so it probably won't be that good. I had to write a poem for class about animals and my friend had done one on poaching with elephants, so I thought I'd do one with something in the rainforest. I started to think about rio and how the dad hated humans so much, And I thought I could do something off of that. I wrote this poem and I thought it was good so I decided to post it. Here it is.
The breeze carries me through the trees
I am weightless like the wind
Color swirls around me
The rain forest filled with life
It looks like any other day
But today is not normal
I search for the perfect meal
And see something a little strange
A small camp with weird things in it
I had seen them before but this one looked different
More sinister, more severe, more deadly
I flew away and knew something was off
I don't know why
But today is not normal
I get my food quickly
And rush back to the nest
I tell my parents what I saw
But they brush it aside
saying nothing is wrong
But I know better
They say it will be fine
But today is not normal
I rush around hoping someone will listen
All I get are sweet nothings that it will be fine
But then someone asks if I speak truth
I tell him yes and he takes me to our chief
I tell him my story the best I can
And he taunts me with a foolhardy laugh
He says no one will ever attack us
No one will ever defeat us
He is blind to the danger
That today is not normal
Then we hear a noise
The screeeech of a machine
The chief has worry etched into his face
I don't have time to say anything
I have to get away
But then the smell hits us
the overwhelming, can't breathe smell of smoke
I realize what they're doing
They're taking our trees
My tribe should have listened when I told them
That today is not normal
