EO Challenge: Blunt: Dean finds himself able to relate to a woman who's lost her humanity. Sam doesn't agree. Set Season 4 cause I noticed, especially in "The Rapture", that Dean sympathizes and Sam is blunt, while in earlier seasons it was vice versa.

What We Lost

"Will I ever be able to go back to the way it was before?"

The siren, woman, glances up at Dean with such humanity in her eyes, he feels compelled to lie. He understands loving someone, losing them, wants her to know this.

Sam beats him to the chase.

"No. You won't be able to go back. You're a completely different person now."

"Jesus Sammy, don't sugarcoat it for her."

Dean wants to tell her that deep inside, that same young girl can be found, waiting in past dreams.

But Sam will push. And he can't take the pain yet.
