Read with Cold As You by Taylor Swift
The stars glittered coldly outside the window.
The moon gazed in silence upon the red haired girl on the floor.
It was silent.
All was silent.
A black furred dog ran in the forest, ran blindly, not caring, not thinking.
She lay there, mind blank, face blank, on the hard stone floor.
She was numb.
He had taken everything.
The very best of her.
It was all gone…he was all gone.
He wasn't going to come back.
He wasn't ever going to come back to her.
Why, why, why?
Her mind screamed.
Why did he leave her?
Was it for that other girl, that blonde thing that hung on his every word?
She didn't.
She didn't worship him.
She…she loved him.
And…she thought that was what he had wanted.
A bitter, choked up laugh escaped from her throat.
She buried her face in her hands.
No tears came.
She wanted them to come.
She wanted them to pour, to overflow, to run down her face in rivulets, leaving tracks nothing could erase.
She wanted the noise building up inside of her to break free, to let loose, to release in a loud sob of despair.
She wanted to cry.
She wanted to cry for him.
For him, for her, for them and all that they could have been.
The cold, hard look on his face as he told her those words, oh, those hateful words.
The blackness in his dark grey eyes that she so loved.
And then as he left…as she held out that hand to him, a silent entreaty for him to come back, for him to take her up in his arms and hold her as he had done so many times before.
That flash of pain so deep and painful that she could have sworn she had seen in his eyes.
That voice, those words he said so softly, so quietly she realized he hadn't wanted her to hear them.
"I will give you up…" He had whispered, facing the door.
"I will let him have you…" His hand clenched on the doorknob.
"I will let him love you…because of who he is and who you are." Something fell from his face, something glittering and liquid.
"I won't stand in his way. Because…" He turned to face her.
"Because you are the two people I love the most in the world." He had said so quietly.
"Because he is James, and you are Lily."
"Because it is Lily and James…"
"Not Lily and Sirius."
"Never Lily and Sirius."
Then he had yanked the door open and left.
He had left.
And so she lay.
Crumpled, a girl with a blank face, a blank mind.
Because it wasn't meant to be.
Because it wasn't and never would be.
Because it would never, never, be Lily and Sirius.
The stars glittered coldly outside the window.
The moon gazed in silence upon the red haired girl on the floor.
It was silent.
All was silent.
A black furred dog ran in the forest, ran blindly, not caring, not thinking.
Never.
