C-Town Up

C-Town Up!

Prologue

The transition between fall and summer in southern Georgia is barely noticeable. The heat of the left over summer forces everyone to wear shorts and short-sleeved shirts around campus, and so few trees change color and lose their leaves that one hardly notices until maintenance rakes up all the leaves. The biggest marker that fall is approaching being that school is back in session. She came down the stairs and out of Gamble Hall where he stood waiting.

"How was English?"

"Awesome! Guess what my one assignment is for the entire class?"

"One really long paper."

"Close, she wants us to write a book by the end of the semester."

"That sounds like so much fun."

The sarcastic grin on his face made her roll her eyes. She shouldered the other strap of her book bag, and wrapped her arm around his waist. He smiled down at her. They walked and ended up on the patio outside the cafeteria. They slumped into the chairs. She asked him about his class.

"It got out after twenty minutes."

"The first day is usually the shortest day."

"Not for English, your class ran over five minutes."

"You know us English nuts. We get excited about literature."

"What are you going to write your literature about?"

"I'm pretty decided on writing it about my life, thus far. I want to start in sophomore year, and show the progression up to graduation."

"You better not put me in it."

"How can I write about my life and not put you in it?"

"You better change my name then."

"Of course baby and some things will have to be modified to meet the assignment requirements, but I want to stay true to my story."

"Why start with sophomore year? Why not start with senior year?"

"Because sophomore year is the beginning, and there is no better place to start than the beginning."

A/N: R&R! This is a very short prologue just to introduce the story a little bit before the first chapter. The first chapter is "Summer 2004 – July" with each subsequent month being another chapter. I'll try to wrap up most of it by the end of marching season because if I didn't then this story would get a little repetitive, so in an effort to keep you, the reader, entertained I will keep the storylines moving. Enjoy!
