The Place of Silence
Ethan's POV
I race out of the woods and crawl under the electrified fence. I jump over a bush and keep running not noticing that Nathan wasn't running behind me. He would be the one to stay for the fight. I run back and this time I see him coming.
"Ethan CATCH!" he yells at me and throws something golden over the fence then crawls under the fence. When we run past thirteen or fourteen cabins we slow down and a hide around the side of one and catch our breaths.
"You still have the book?" he says panting. I nod." Good".
The Golden Book is what he is talking about.
"What I want you to do sis is hold on to that book with your life and run. Don't look back just run, you got that?" I say. I shake my head and frown. "Look Ethan this is not the time to be difficult. You have to hold onto that book, guard it with your life and don't look back. We are twins, you know were I will be, what I feel, what I think, If you feel me coming behind I need you to keep running im not going to be safe anymore. Don't stop running for anything, I mean NOTHING, got it?" he says and gives me his bag.
I nod trying to hold back the tear but I can't and they just fall down my face in harmony. He kisses my forehead and squeezes my hand one last time. He runs around the corner never for me to see him again. I do as he says and run never to look back, to never stop running.
I feel so cowardly, and so little. He is the strongest of the two of us…and bravest.
I hear a scream and stop everything running, blinking…even breathing. I can hear my heart racing, my pulse getting faster.
My mouth opens but nothing comes out. I'm mute. The spell never wore off. I try to scream with all my power but nothing comes out.
I disobey my brothers rules and run to him. I wanted to scream his name but nothing…as usual. I run pass the cabins and under the fence to the woods. I run until I see someone, the I stop and hide behind a tree.
"Now, Nathanial you will tell me were the book is," I hear his voice say.
That's Zalazar. The man who killed my parents. The man who is going to kill Nathan if I don't do anything.
I see Nathan on the ground.
