Vaporeon lay in a small kelp nest munching on a fish. She sighed happily and tossed the bones aside as Jolteon padded in.

Vaporeon lifted her head and smiled at Jolteon. "Hey Spark! How are you?"

Spark flopped down next to Vaporeon, sighing heavily. "Good. So how's the hunting, Rain? Any good fish lately?"

Rain shook her head. "That fish I just ate was the last I've seen for a long time."

Spark shook his head. " I TOLD you! Come to the forest with me! It has much better hunting than this old beach."

Rain sighed. " I was born here and I'm not going to leave. I've told you this so many times!"

Spark licked her ear. "Then I'll just have too live here too."

Rain smiled. "Great! Now I have to deal with this furball!"

Spark laughed and licked her ear affectionately. Happiness spread over Rain like fire. She touched her nose to his and licked his ear. She rested her head onto his back and licked him slowly.

Rain woke slowly stretching out her legs. She padded out of her den and dashed towards the river were she dunked her muzzle into it and drank slowly. After she finished she licked her lips and slid into the warm river water. At once she scented fish and plunged under the water to seek it out. She swam along the river bottom and followed the strong scent of fish. Far ahead of her she spotted the fishes bright red scales and swam after it. Before she was even a foot away the fish darted off, trying to escape.

Rain sped after it her tail swishing side to side. Once she was close enough she slashed her paw out, missing the fish by inches. The fish then darted down a tiny cave, and out of sight.

Rain shook her head and rose to the surface, taking a deep breath.

She swam slowly back to the bank, were Spark waited holding a mouse in his jaws.

Spark stood next to her as he climbed out of the river. He set the mouse down. "Any luck?"

Rain shook her head. "I almost had one but I missed the killing blow…"

Spark gasped. "How did you possibly miss? You never miss!"

Rain sagged her shoulders. "I know! I feel as if I'm sick. And my belly feels really squirmy."

Spark's eyes suddenly lit up. "Your pregnant!"

Rain looked up swiftly. "That can't be. Even if it was I don't have a mate. "

Spark frowned. "Don't you understand? The babies will be mine!"

Rain starred at him fear in her gaze. "But I-I… we didn't…-"

Spark smiled. " Yes we did! Just face it! Your going to be a mom!"

Rain growled. " I don't want to be a mom! I'm not ready for that yet!"

Spark sighed. "It will be all right, I promise! Even if the babies don't make it I'll still love you. No matter what happens."

Rain looked down. " I just don't fell ready."

Spark nuzzled her affectionately. " You are ready. When the time comes you'll be ready."

Rain glanced up at him. " I love you, Spark."

Spark smiled." I love you too, Rain."

Rain smiled at him and they padded home.

10 months later…

Rain sat in her nest watching her daughter, tussle with Spark.

Eevee ran after him laughing. "I'm going to get you!"

Spark jumped over her growling playfully. " You'll never catch me, Ruby!"

Ruby jumped on her fathers back pushing him to the ground.

Rain laughed and called them apart. " That's enough. Ruby has to get to bed soon if she wants to hunt tomorrow."

Ruby came bounding in and flopped down next to her mother, quickly falling asleep.

Spark padded in and curled up in his nest. "You're a great mother."

Rain sighed. "Thanks. Lets get some rest, Ruby has a big day tomorrow."

Spark yawned and rested his head on his paws. "Night."

Rain yawned and curled around Ruby. "Night."

She sighed and drifted off into sleep.
