It took me like 10 minutes to write this. I wrote this for my followers on my tumblr as a "sorry for the wait" fic. I hope you enjoy!
"There's only one way this could end!" Rey heard over the screech of the blizzard. She turned in circles to find the source of his voice, only to meet deceiving shadows and piles of snow.
"Ben, it doesn't have to be like this!" Rey shouted as loud as she could, effectively burning her dry throat. The blizzard didn't show a single sign of letting up. If they didn't make a move soon, both of them could die of the weather. What a silly way for two force users to die.
A whoosh of an unsheathed blade marked Kylo Ren's position. He charged, swinging toward her left flank. Rey parried and followed through with a swing above her head.
Ren caught her blade with his and they stood there, pushing against each other.
"Ben Solo is dead! DEAD," Ren roared. Rey didn't flinch at his attempt at intimidation and instead pushed away from him. She stared at him, all her pain enveloped in her eyes.
"Ben's really gone then,"
Ren had no answer nor intimidation tactic. All he could do was stare at her. He'd finally succumbed to the darkness; his life long goal was achieved. He'd become more powerful and more absolute in his use of the force. The pain of being torn apart was finally gone. But, seeing the pain, the hopelessness in his lover's eyes made him forget why he even let the darkness take him in the first place.
"He's truly dead," she trudged closer and closer to him through the knee-deep snow. She stood before him, staring up at his face. His eyes were a glowing hazel, reflecting the darkness within him. The scar she left on him long ago was still as red as it was when the wound healed.
"Then there is no other way, is there?" Her voice cracked. She did not cry, no. But he saw in her eyes, the look of total defeat, of hopelessness; this surely was the look of a broken person. He said nothing. Ben was gone and Kylo Ren only remained. "I'm so sorry," Rey was trembling now, not from the cold, but from pure sorrow.
Kylo Ren was shocked that she'd suddenly react in such a way. He was even more so when she wrapped her arms around him, burying her face in his snow-covered chest. Without even thinking, Ren brought his own arms to wrap around her figure protectively. All of this felt so familiar to him, but again so alien, as if he'd done this before, but so long ago. He let his nose divulge in the familiar scent of her hair.
He didn't know what to feel. Sadness? Anger? Joy? Maybe Ben Solo wasn't truly dead if he hesitated like this for her. He felt something, but couldn't place it. Subconsciously, he mumbled something in her hair. "What did you say?" Rey asked, not bothering to look up at him.
"In another world, perhaps,"
"Perhaps."
The blue of her saber flared from behind her back. It only took him a moment to realize that the source of the blade was pressed behind his back.
She'd done it. She killed him.
"Perhaps in another life, Ben," Rey mumbled as the life left her eyes.
"I'm sorry too," Ben croaked.
Yeah, I'm sorry too guys. Anyway, have a lovely day!
