A little piece to help with writer's block. As always, please review!

Today is our birthday.

It's nice and pleasant in the Leaf Village, a far cry from how Saizen feels on the inside. Birthdays are supposed to be happy occasions with parties and time with friends. She supposes she could've had that; her teammates and sensei had wanted to take her out, but she'd refused. There was only one person she wished to spend her birthday with, the person who shared it with her. Unfortunately, she had no idea where he was.

Sasuke.

The inside of the Shushuya is full so no one notices Saizen as she slips into a booth by herself. She orders simple omusubi with okaka and tomatoes. She barely picks at it though. She can't stand the taste, but it's Sasuke's favorite dish. It's a simple reminder of her brother, one she can come for whenever she wants.

Happy birthday to us, Sasuke.

It's our birthday today.

The thought eats away at the bck of Sasuke's conscience. He thought after all this time away from the Leaf Village and away from her that he'd forget about petty things like birthdays. But how could you when you shared it? He wanders through the streets of the small town, unconsciously looking for something. A small smile graces his features when he finds it.

Saizen.

The small sweet shop is relatively empty so he is able to place his order quickly. Inwardly he grimaces at the daifuku on the plate before him. He can't stand sweets, but it's Saizen's favorite dish. It's a simple reminder of his sister, something he craves but will not admit.

Happy birthday to us, Saizen.

It's the twins' birthday.

Itachi thinks back to the old days when mother prepared the two a cake that was equally sweet and bitter to satisfy both their tastes. As the oldest, Saizen would take the first bite and then offer one to Sasuke. Then they would burst into giggles and proceed to devour the rest of the cake in seconds.

Saizen. Sasuke.

He knows the two have not spent a birthday together in years. He knows they are being driven apart by their opposite ideals; possibly to the point of no return. But he also knows that they still love and care for each other. That deep down, that twin bond still exists in their hearts. He just wonders if they know it.

Happy birthday, Saizen and Sasuke.
