Paraguay
Tony DiNozzo shivered and hugged his Ohio State sweater close to himself.
"Oh my days," he thought, "Paraguay may be a sauna during the day but it's definitely more like a freezer at night!"
Desperately trying to stay warm, he looked over at his partner, Special Agent Kate Todd, who was lying at the opposite end of the double bed which they had unfortunately been landed with in only a basketball vest and shorts.
Originally, he'd been stuck with the couch while Kate was in the bed but, after around half an hour of him whining, she'd given in and allowed him to sleep opposite her. This had come with the threat of not having legs if he tried to come near her however, he was now thinking of dismissing this. His previously peaceful partner had now started thrashing and whimpering uncontrollably in her sleep.
"Gerroff… Me… Gerroff… Me… GERROFF!"
"Kate," Tony whispered, poking her in the back gently. "KATE!" He yelled, clamping his hand down on her struggling shoulder.
Kate screamed and jolted awake. Within two seconds, she'd whipped out her gun from under her pillow and pressed the barrel against Tony's cheek.
"Woah!" He cried, "easy!"
"Tony…" She breathed, wearily placing it on the bedside table.
"Nightmare?"
"Ya think, DiNozzo?"
"What about?"
"More like who."
"Who then?"
"The terrorist."
Tony paused. He knew that Ari Haswari had affected Kate but he didn't think that it was that bad. Shifting slightly, he turned so that he was staring directly into her beautiful hazel eyes. He noticed that she was trembling, whether it was due to the nightmare or the bitter cold, he wasn't sure.
Hastily, he took off his Ohio State sweater and handed it to Kate, who allowed him to pull it on over her head.
"Thanks," she said, snuggling into it.
"Any time," he responded, now freezing again. "Night," he said, beginning to turn over.
"Wait Tony!" Kate blurted out, causing him to stop.
"What?"
"Well, with all these nightmares, I can't sleep and I know that I'll need the energy tomorrow so… um… hold me, please?"
"Sure," he said, his heart jumping for joy.
He opened his arms and cautiously, Kate slid into them, nestling her head into his shoulder. Holding her instantly restored his warmth and strangely, it felt as if it was meant to be. Tony began to absentmindedly twiddle his partner's dark locks between his fingers, humming softly in her ear.
Kate lay in his embrace, falling slowly off to sleep. Both of them hoped that they'd be as close as this in the future.
