Viridi envied Palutena. She was envious of Skyworld's beauty; there were no humans to mess it up. She envied her full figure; Viridi would forever have the appearance of a child. But most of all, Viridi was envious of Palutena's relationship with her angel, Pit.

It was no secret that Viridi had become infatuated with Pit, no matter how much she denied it. Palutena knew this, and even teased her about it at one point. It was the reason Viridi helped him so much. It was the reason she didn't want to let him save Dark Pit. It was the reason she had given up her goal of destroying humanity.

Palutena did occasionally let Pit leave Skyworld to visit Viridi. But the visits did not happen enough, nor did they last long enough for Viridi. Whenever she was around Pit, Viridi felt warm, and whole. And whenever she wasn't around him, she worried about him, fearing that he would do something reckless and get hurt again like the Chaos Kin incident; the image of Pit's scorched wings and unconcious body still haunted Viridi, and she couldn't help but blame herself for it; after all, she had let him talk her into granting him the Power of Flight against her better judgement. Viridi was relieved when Pit sprung back to life after being dipped in the Rewind Spring; she wouldn't have been able to forgive herself if he had died because of her. She was so caught up in admiring the shirtless angel that she didn't notice his twin jumping off, and falling, having lost his flight; she did not act until Palutena spoke up. Viridi didn't really care much for Dark Pit, but he did save Pit, and Pit and Palutena clearly cared about him, so she retrieved him for them.

Arlon and Phosphora had both taken notice of Viridi's strange behavior; Arlon suggested that she simply told Pit how she felt, while Phosphora simply thought Viridi wanted an angel of her own to boss around, and suggested recruiting his twin into the Forces of Nature. Both were foolish suggestions; Viridi could not put her feelings for the angel into words, and even if she did tell him, he might reject her, and if he didn't, it would simply make being apart from him that much harder for her. And Viridi did not want Dark Pit; though he saved Pit, she did not care for him. He wasn't the real Pit; he was just a flawed, unnatural copy who did not possess any of the traits that she admired about the original. His kindness, his dedication, and his ability to see the good in everything. She often dreamed that she was a princess, and Pit, her knight in shining armor, would sweep her off her feet in his chariot.

Viridi wished she could be be with Pit forever, and make sure that he never got hurt again. But it was just that; a wish. It would never come true so long as he served Palutena. But deep down, Viridi knew that she probably didn't even deserve to be friends with Pit, not after what she did to those humans. How could she expect him to love her when he had spent his whole life around someone like Palutena, who was both kinder and more beautiful than her? Perhaps she could learn to simply be grateful for the time she did have with Pit.

...No. Viridi was no different from the humans she sought to destroy. She was greedy; the more Pit came to visit, and the more she thought about him, the more she wanted him all to herself. She was green with envy.
